Privacy policy

Effective August 8, 2026 · playpit.fun

Playpit is a general-audience site of browser games, and we know families and kids play here. So the policy is built around one idea: collect as close to nothing as possible. The plain-language version:

One change worth being upfront about: until August 2026 this page promised contextual, non-personalized ads only. Playpit is now a general-audience site with personalized advertising, described in full below. Nothing about accounts, chat, or on-device saves changed.

Advertising

Playpit is free and may show ads to keep it that way. Playpit is a general-audience site — it is not directed to children — and our advertising partner is Google. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites, and to measure whether those ads worked. You can review Google's practices and opt out of personalized advertising at myadcenter.google.com, or turn off personalized advertising across participating companies at optout.aboutads.info.

Some pages are treated differently regardless of the above. Our road-safety games — Swivelhead and Wheelabout — teach children to cross the road and to drive, so those pages always request non-personalized ads no matter where you are or what you have accepted.

Analytics: counting, not tracking

To know which games people enjoy, we measure aggregate usage — page views, rough location (country or city, from your IP), and basic device class. Two tools do this for us. Google Analytics stores one cookie on your device so that a returning player is counted as the same visit rather than a brand-new one; that cookie is used for counting and nothing else. PostHog counts page views cookieless — it stores nothing on your device at all, and we switch off its session recording, its autocapture of clicks, and its IP collection.

Because Playpit is a general-audience site, Google's advertising features are enabled on our analytics property: your visit may be used to build advertising audiences and to measure ad campaigns, and Google may combine it with your Google account activity if your own Google settings allow that. What we still do not do: we do not sell your data to data brokers, we do not attempt to identify you by name, we ask for no account, and we record no sessions — we never see your screen, mouse, or keystrokes.

If you are in the UK, the EEA or Switzerland, we ask before storing anything: cookies are set only if you choose "Accept". Decline and the visit is still counted, but nothing is stored on your device and ads stay non-personalized. Your choice is remembered on your device, and you can change it any time by clearing your browser storage for this site.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control — an opt-out signal recognized by California and several other US state laws — we treat it as an opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information: advertising cookies and ad personalization are switched off for you automatically, and no ad targeting data about your visit leaves the site. Our own first-party visit counting continues. We no longer act on the older "Do Not Track" header, which no law recognizes and which most browsers have removed.

Error reports

If a game crashes, your browser may send us a technical error report (the error message, the page it happened on, and browser version) so we can fix it. Error reports contain no personal information and are used only for debugging.

Sharing links and postcards

Some games create shareable links or images (Bloomstead's postcards, Starskip's star charts, Korveth's battle reports). These are generated entirely on your device and encode only game data — a world seed, a position, a list of moves — never anything about you. Sharing them is always your choice, done through your own apps.

Multiplayer rooms

Multiplayer is not enabled right now. Every game on Playpit is single-player today: no room can be joined, and no game data of yours leaves your device to reach another player. We are describing this in advance so the policy is already true on the day we turn it on, and so you can see what we have decided it will never do.

Two games (Stackpark, Korveth) have a built invite-a-friend mode we have not switched on. When we do, rooms will carry game moves only — block placements, unit orders, positions. There will be no chat channel, no display names beyond "player 1"-style slot labels, no matchmaking with strangers, and nothing said or typed, because there will be nowhere to say or type it. Room activity will not be linked to any identity, and a room will keep only what the game itself needs (a shared build, a match seed) — nothing about the people in it. We will update this page before that changes.

Children

Playpit is a general-audience site and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Because there are no accounts, no chat, no uploaded content, and no behavioral advertising, playing on Playpit does not involve giving us personal data. If you believe a child has somehow provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
